Title: Ethernet System Application Engineer
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for technical support in the design in process for Ethernet switch products. Pre-sales tasks include delivering technical presentations to OEM's and ODM's on the features and benefits of our solution in their systems, working with the sales and FAE team in product training and developing a system level sell of Agere Ethernet components; as well as gathering competitive data and working with design engineers and marketing to analyze the results. Other tasks include writing applications notes and other technical documentation; reference designs, and writing software demonstration s cripts all towards the end goal of obtaining design wins. Evaluation and design-in functions include running performance and validation tests; coordinating customer design reviews and participating in weekly conference calls with the customer; help debugging software or hardware by reproducing problems on the bench and working with designers to isolate root causes; occasionally traveling to customers' sites to demo the evaluation tools and validate that the IC works in their application; and providing overall support to OEM's that are designing with our Ethernet products. The Application Engineer will be tasked with working with Agere's Ethernet systems and software engineering organizations to develop tools and collateral that aids the customer in their evaluation and development phases of product design.
Qualifications
Functional/Industry Knowledge
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years Applications Engineering experience in a product development environment
- Proven Applications Engineering skills
- Knowledge and experience in high-speed board design and signal integrity issues
- Experience with Ethernet Switching protocols and architectures
- Strong understanding of physical layer technology.
- Customer support experience
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills
- Experience with writing documents (data-sheet, application-notes, etc.)
Desired:
- Past experience in a lead position giving guidance to other engineers
- Previous experience as a system level development engineer on networking or data communications projects emphasizing Ethernet switching strongly preferred
- Experience in test equipment and s cripting languages is desired
Education/Certifications
Preferred Degree: MS
Preferred Major: Electrical Engineering or related discipline

Experience with Broadcom and Marvell's products is fine,
products of Broadcom: BCM5690/5695/5691/5673/5346/5345/5670 etc.
products fo Marvell: DX81/161/241,EX/120/130/125/242/630/620 etc.
We want ASIC based Ethernet development experience, rather than
those based on Network Processor.
In addition, this candidate hasn't passed CET-6.
Good English is required.
